In this post I’ll cover this video we’ll cover the four steps to grow your audience for your coaching business. If you stick around to the end I’ll share with you the one thing that you absolutely must remember to do to ensure that your audience actually grows.

Let’s get to the 4 steps to grow your audience for your coaching business.
You need to find out what your ideal clients are searching for on Dr Google. Think about what you do if you have a problem. The first thing you tend to do is not to think “I need a coach – I’ll search for coach”. It’s probably a very specific question you have. You type into google and you probably click on a blog post or a YouTube video.
You want to be finding out what your ideal clients are searching for on Google. This is also known as keyword research. If you use keyword research to come up with your content ideas, when your ideal client is searching for help, your content is ideally going to show up.
Step one leads me to step number two…
Create content that answers the questions that you discovered in the keyword research step.
Choose your primary content marketing method for answering these questions. I decided that my content delivery method was going to be creating YouTube videos. I create these YouTube videos by answering questions that people are searching for on Google and YouTube.
It’s no coincidence that the title for this video is “how can i grow my audience for my coaching business” I did my keyword research beforehand and discovered that that is a question that my ideal clients are searching for the answer to. I’m using this video/blog post to answer that question.
On a side note, I like using YouTube to answer questions. It took me a long time to be brave enough to show up on video but I chose it because I feel like it’s a quicker way of building authority and trust with people. When you’re showing up on camera people can see you and hear you and they can get to know what you’re like really quickly.
The other benefit is that YouTube is owned by google so it’s going to help you show up in search results on google and youtube. Which means it’s covering a lot of bases.
I’ve covered step one – to find out what you’re ideal client is searching for. We’ve also covered step two – to answer the question. Step three is next.
When you answer the question you want to provide value and educate. Sticking with this post as the example.
I’m taking the question and I’m educating on why content marketing works for audience growth in the context of search-based content. So I’m looking at what your question was, answering it as well as giving an example of how that works.
Hopefully you’re finding it valuable and can see how it can work for your business?
You can also provide value by sharing tips and as you build up a content bank you will be answering a variety of questions. It’s also a great way to handle objections that potential clients might have about working with you.
Using my content planning business as an example again.
A lot of people are nervous about being visible on YouTube and showing up on video. I could create a video and I plan to do so on how to get over that fear of being visible. How you can reframe your thoughts so that you actually go ahead and start making those videos.
Once you’ve provided value and provided education in your video we’re on to the last step.
Consistency is what will help you to build trust. Ideally you want to be creating a piece of content every week.
It has two effects:
I promised a bonus which was the one thing to remember to do and to ensure that your audience actually grows. That thing is to remember to include a call to action at the end of all your content.
By call to action I mean tell your viewer, reader or listener what to do next. It might be as simple as ‘subscribe’ so you can grow your YouTube audience for example. You could just ask for a like.
You may want to ask for something bigger, for example to sign up for a freebie which will subscribe the to your email list.
Think about what you want them to do at the end of that video and ask them to do it. If you don’t ask you don’t get.
