If you’re looking to get your coaching website up and running quickly stick around. That’s exactly what I’m going to be covering in this blog post and video,
You can read the post, watch the video or both as they cover the same info.
First up we’re going to talk about choosing your platform. If you want to get your website up and running quickly then I recommend that you use a drag and drop system if you’re not very tech savvy.
I have used both Squarespace and Showit and having used both I recommend Showit. The reason being, with Showit you can link your blog to WordPress. This means you can then tap into the power of WordPress plugins later on down the line. Plugins are great if you want to do anything fancy with your website (I don’t recommend getting fancy straight away).
In order to get your website up and running quickly you want to stick with the basics. Get your website going and then you can add pages and functionality as you grow.
Showit is the perfect option for starting simple but it will still grow with your business. For more in depth information on this you can check out my other blog posts. How to get started building your website or why should I use Showit for my website?
Next up you need to think about your domain name. If you don’t have a domain name already you can purchase one through Godaddy, Google Domains or Hover. Those are the ones that Showit recommend that you use.
If you are using something else like Squarespace, I think you can get your domain name through the Squarespace platform.
Once you have your platform and your domain name sorted the next thing you want to do is start designing your website. Now, this is a lot easier if you use a template. Templates are great because you’re not staring at a blank page wondering what to put on there.
The great thing about templates especially if they’re designed for your profession is you don’t need to do so much thinking. You can just get on with filling in the content specific to the kind of coaching that you do.
You’ll have all the pages that you need to get started. They’re split into sections so you just go ahead and put in the copy for those sections.
With a Showit template you can really easily swap out colours. It’s just a click of a button, you change out the colours and it’s done. You can change the look of the website with a change of colours in literally a couple of minutes. So that’s super fast!
It’s really easy to swap out the photos that are already on the template as placeholders. When you buy a template you can swap out the images for stock photos or your own photos.
Stock photos are so useful to get high quality images that fit your niche. You do get free stock photos from sites like Unsplash or Pexels. I recommend looking on sites like Creative Market. If you purchase stock photos you are more likely to stand out from the crowd as a lot of free stock photos are seen on many websites and people start to recognise them.
It’s always a good idea, particularly if you’re a personal brand (selling yourself and your services) to have a few images of yourself.
If you don’t have professional photos, or don’t have the funds or time yet for professional photos I recommend taking a few photos of yourself on your phone. You can then find some decent presets or filters to use to make them look a bit more professional.
If you’re worried about the tech involved to customise your template, you don’t need to worry. I know that a lot of templates (my ones included) come with video tutorials. The tutorials show you exactly how to make all the common changes that you need to make.
When it comes to launching your website. Once you have your domain set up with Showit you just hit publish and you’ve launched! You can have a little celebration. In fact the platform I use to host my video tutorials has a little button you can press to celebrate the fact that you’ve launched your website!
So it really is possible to get your coaching website up and running quickly. If you use a template and if you use what you already have it doesn’t need to cost you a lot of money.
Once you get your website up and running quickly you can focus on working with your clients and doing what you love.
